Password Protection and Coloured Cells

I have a large spreadsheet containing all sorts of headings, formulas, formatting etc, and cells which are used for data entry.

The data entry cells are filled in by other people, and to simplify the task I have coloured these (in yellow, but not that that makes any difference :) )

Unfortunately, some of these people try and alter the other cells, which puts a bit of a spanner in the works to put it mildly !

Is there any way to protect the worksheet, so that they can only enter data into cells coloured yellow, and a password required for other cells ?

Bit of a shot in the dark I know, but would be grateful for any ideas !

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
You need to unlock the coloured cells and then protect the worksheet.

Select the coloured cells, Format>Cells on Protection tab untick Locked, then protect your worksheet.
