Paste greyed out?

Hi everyone

Any idea why the paste/paste special items on the shortcut menu would be greyed out when copying between 2 workbooks? I have been trying to figure this out and its driving me nuts! Both books contain VBA code but not any that target change events in cells.

I am not editing any cells at the same time as trying to copy either. What else can it be?

Thanks!
FD

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
If both have VB code is it possible that one of them has a Worksheet/Workbook Deactivate code that manipulates one of the sheets, thus canceling out your copy?

Good idea BJungheim but nope, no activation/deactivation workbook/worksheet code. BTW, I noticed that when I in desperation closed and reopened the workbook, I could paste when I tried again!
