Paste hard returns into cell

How do I format a cell to accept text pasted into it, that has hard returns (new paragraphs)?

When I do so now, each paragraph is placed into its own row and does not stay in the same cell.

Not sure, but try double-clicking the cell before pasting (puts it into edit mode).

I found the answer at:

Basically double click the cell and enter edit mode and then paste.
