Hello,

I was wondering if there was a way to paste 16 digit numbers into merged cells.

I have formatted the Cell as "Text" so the number doesn't get rounded off.
However, when I paste the number into the merged cell I get the prompt:

"Data on the Clipboard is not the same size and shape as the selected area. Do you want to paste the data anyway?"

Upon choosing "OK"

The following error is reported:
"Cannot change part of a merged cell"

I know that the number can be pasted by being within the cell.

The merged cells are AX7 through BT7

Thanks

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Hi,

Can you Paste Special - Values only?

HTH,

Jay

Edit: This doesn't work, try opening the cell with F2 and then paste your number. I tested this and it worked fine for me. Jay

Hello,

Thank you for the reply. I was aware of pressing F2 and then pasting, and it does work :)

However, I was wondering if there was a way to format the merged cells so that the 16 digit number could be pasted by pushing Ctrl-V or right-clicking the cell and choosing Paste.

Thanks so much.
