Hi I have workbook A and workbook B.

I have some formulas (e.g. some if functions and some referencing formulas) in some cells in workbook B which i want to paste into workbook A. However I am unable to paste them into workbook A.

However if it's within the same workbook I am able to do so.

Any advice to solve this problem is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Excel Facts

Quick Sum
Select a range of cells. The total appears in bottom right of Excel screen. Right-click total to add Max, Min, Count, Average.
Hi Charles,

Ms-Excel won't allow you to paste formula from other excel instance. Not only formula but you would not be able to apply Lookup and other functions as well.

To solve this problem open excel in same instance (Multiple file in one excel instance)

Hi Gautam thanks for your prompt reply. Do you know the reason why MS excel disallows people to paste formula from other workbooks?

try this
highlite your formula and click "COPY" X-out your workbook and when you are prompt to save changes click "CANCELL" now minimize your workbook and open another book and paqste your formula
