Pasting screenshots increases file size

Hello,

I have noticed that, with Excel 2003, when I paste a small image (.bmp or .jpg) of perhaps 50kb from the Print Screen function, the file size becomes huge (e.g. 3Mb) - even after selecting the 'compress picture' option from within Excel and selecting the lowest resolution.

Could somebody advise me how to reduce the size of these files, as I need to email them and they are currently too large? What is making the Excel file so huge if it is not the images themselves? Pasting the images into Word is an option but will take a lot of time to resize/format etc. so they fit on the page.

Thanks very much for your help.

Tim

Thanks for your help. The fact that you couldn't reproduce it in Excel 2000 made me think about saving the document as a simple Microsoft Excel Workbook (as opposed to the default 97-2003 workbook option in the Save As dialog box). This seems to have solved the problem! Weird...

Thanks again,

Tim
