Hi,

I am doing a simple copy and paste special from one workbook to another. The contents of the cell is =12345+34567.

when I paste special into the second workbook I get the Paste an object dialog box asking me to select what kind of object it is.....which it isn't. I want the regular paste special to appear. The reason is that I want to choose paste formulas, as when I choose Paste the aggregated figure appears ok but not the formula.

Where should I look to see why Excel thinks this is an object and not a simple formula/data entry item?

Hi

That happens when you copy between 2 different instances of excel. In this case you launched 2 excel applications from windows and you get the Paste between applications.

To get the usual Paste Special dialog, instead of lauching 2 excel applications from windows, open the first workbook and use the File Open inside it to open the second workbook.
