People in department at any one hour

Hello

I have data on patient admittances in a 24-hour department, for a month's period. I need to calculate how many patients are in the department at any one hour. I have combined the date and time of arrival and departure for each visit so I can capture the times where people stay overnight.

Where do I go from here to show how many people are in the department at each hour?

add an extra field: =HOUR(A3)
then run a pivot on the date and count persons by this hour.
