Hi, I'm trying to calculate how many people occurred per square kilometer in one day.

Ex. I have 6 people on 583 hectares on one day. I know that 583 hectares is 5.83 square kilometers thus I assume that I need to do the following calculation to answer my question (6 people / 5.83 km2) = 1.02 people / square kilometer /day.

Is this correct? I'm just wanting to double check my math. Thank you very much for your input!

Your math and conversions are correct. You probably should write it as 1.03 though since the answer is 1.029... If it's for some kind of homework problem, you should look the question over carefully since you may need to assume a rounded up count of people. 1.03=>2.

Then again, maybe not. I just thought it was worth mentioning.
