hello

I'm new with the concept of percentile so i was wondering if i can get some guidance...

i have set of data for 172 sales ppl. i have their YTD revenue average. as per any sales force, we have their quota of $200 in sales per week.

can i generate a percentile for this method, does it make sense?

also, if im comparing reported vs actual; can i use percentile on this, and how do i measure k in excel?

percentile formula
=PERCENTILE (data set range, k)

thxs alot!

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
You must first know what you want to do - in plain English. After that, look in the function list in Excel and match it with 1 or more existing functions. Not the other way around :-)

so if my data is in range z, where z = YTD revenue/YTD quota

so my formula is:

=PERCENTILE($Z$14:$Z$185,Z14)

= 75.3%

meaning, this person's YTD revenue is in the 75th percentile?

Have a look at the RANK or PERCENTRANK functions, might be closer to what you want I think.
