Sorry another question but everybody has been very helpful in the past. I have got my Flying logbooks on excel and they work fine. The problem is that over the last 30 years I have flown more than 30 different types and now need to add the totals (11 of) columns, specific to aircraft type and mark. So I have a spreadsheet 25 cols wide with info (about 15,000 entries (each trip)) entered horizontally. Lets say I would like to identify one column (Aircraft type) and somewhere else summarize just that aircraft type? for example how do I get excel to recognise a name, ie Boeing and then get it total those columns in another cell. Hope that makes sense? I have tried to post the spreadsheet ont the site but to no avail. Any help gratefully accepted.

Thank you so much I have tried that but it comes up with an error (using 2003 version) highlighting Boeing as the problem. Could you also try to explain the A:A B:B bit. Does the A:A refer to the input cell name and the B:B refer to output.

Sorry I am just a little bit confused by my own programme. The problem is that I can get a prog commercially but it would mean employing a typist for about 3 days "00000's" to enter in all the data. Its just not practicable. Again very many thank in anticipation.
