Pivot Chart Reports

I have created a pivot table and pivot chart report. It is an area chart. I wish to move the series order in the chart and do this by selecting the data series, doing format data series and using the Series Order tab to move it up or down in the order. This is then displayed on the chart.
I then save the worksheet and exit out of the file. When I reopen it the data series is back in its original location.
When working in Excel 97, this worked fine but I have just been upgraded to 2003. Is there something different in this version which would be making this happen?
