I have a custom sort list set up in Excel. The Pivot table is accepting the sort and sorting accordingly. However, the slicer is not sorting by the custom list. It is only sorting alphabetically. Is there something else that needs to happen to get the slicer to sort properly?

As a simplified example, I have a pivot table with the following rows that sort in this order:

Jim
Thomas
Andrew

However, the slicer sorts like this:

Andrew
Jim
Thomas

Excel Facts

Can a formula spear through sheets?
Use =SUM(January:December!E7) to sum E7 on all of the sheets from January through December
When the slicer is selected, use the Slicer contextual tab in the ribbon. Then, way on the left in the ribbon is Slicer settings. Make sure the checkbox for use custom lists in sorting is checked.

That option is not available to me for some reason.

Hmmmm. That is mysterious. Thanks for your help. I'll see what else I can find out about that setting not being there.
