Pivot table averaging by date period, pivot chart showing counts over same period.

Is it possible to do the following...

Have a pivot table which is averaging product sales by period (using a timeline for filtering) and also having a pivot chart bound to the same timeine that plots each products sales counts within the same period.

If I try to plot a pivot chart on the data right now it just plots the average that is shown in the table. I can get what I want by restructuring the data and creating a separate chart against it but it is detached from the timeline pivot filter. Ideally I want this all to be linked so the filter works across the graph and the pivot table.
