Hi,

I am add a simple sum calculation to a pivot table which will multiply column 1 with 2.
I have added a calculated field with the following formula ='Unit'*Quantity

However i have noticed that a lot of the totals are showing incorrect. Is there a different method to calculating this?

Thanks

Excel Facts

Select a hidden cell
Somehide hide payroll data in column G? Press F5. Type G1. Enter. Look in formula bar while you arrow down through G.
They are not incorrect per se, they're just not what you want. ;)

Calculated fields always SUM any fields in the formula first, then do other operations. So you don't get SUM(Unit*Quantity) you get SUM(Unit)*SUM(Quantity).

Since you have 365, you can use the data model to work around it - a calculated column is a simple way.
