Pivot Table Columns Change Format When Slicer Changed

I'm trying to do some number formatting, as well as conditional formatting/data bars in a pivot table. When I change the Slicer filter connected to that pivot, items in formatted columns are no longer formatted correctly. Selecting the PivotTable option to "Preserve cell formatting on update" does not seem to fix the problem.

I would appreciate any tips on how to get the formatting to update in unison with the pivot table value changes.
