I have several pivot tables running of a load of data. When I add data they all work fine until I add the 59th record and when I do this the pivot tables say that:

"excel cannpot make the changes because there are too many rows or column items. Drag at least one out of the pivot table.... goes on."

I try dragging coloumns out of some of my tables but this does not seem to work either - what is happeneinh, any ideas??

Following ths error message none of the pivots will refresh until I delete the 59th line!!! HElp

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
The Excel Help topic for "Microsoft Excel specifications" lists the limit for PivotTable items at 8,000. If you'll consult the Excel Help topic for "Elements of a PivotTable report" PivotTable items are highlighted -- you have too many of them.
