Pivot Table Error

Someone came to me with a problem and unfortunately I have not been able to figure it out. They have a spreadsheet with a pivot table. Upon opening they get the error "Cannot edit a pivot table in group edit mode". The error appears twice as it opens. I suspect it might have something to do with running on an NT network but I've never seen this error before and don't know why it being on a network would impose limitations. There are no macros running on launch. Anybody have any ideas?

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
