I have a pivot table and I need to be able to add a column that the user will be able to enter text. Is there a way to do this so that the pivot table somehow connects with this column?

Welcome to the board!

What do you mean "somehow connects with this column"? What do you want to do with the text?

Finally a response!

I would like to have a column where the user can go in and mark 'yes' or 'no' and when I collapse or expand the pivot table, the 'yes' or 'no' moves with the data. Right now, it's just anchored in the where it was entered.

Does that make sense?

I responded to your first post 12 minutes after you posted it. I don't think that warrants "finally"

I'm not sure I understand what you're expecting or why you are doing this... If you are collapsing your pivot table, the DATA in the cells is changing, it's not that cells/rows are hiding.

I'd recommend setting up a separate table for your text. Then, use vlookups to pull the text for the corresponding pivot table values.
