Mr. Excel,

I have a pivot table with a Date field (I use the Month) and a Type field in the column of the Pivot table . If I have type first in the column and then Date field Excel displays everything fine.
If I reverse the order, Excel does NOT display the value of the Type field & combines the data for both fields. I did a test with two text fields and Excel handled those fine so it appears the Date
has to be the last field in the column of a multi column report. This seems to be unusual ....Is this a bug?

Example
DATE AS LAST FIELD IN COLUMN
Male Female
Dept Jan Feb Jan Feb
A 1 1
B 1 1 1

DATE AS FIRST FIELD IN PIVOT COLUMN
'
Jan Feb

Dept
A 1 1
B 2 1

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
I'm rather convinced this is not a bug... but a logical thing that goes on.
Can you show your pivot using the XL2BB or a picture?

I am convincebd it is a bug. Why can 2 texts fields work fine and1 text and 1 date field not? If I make the date field a month label it works. It makes no sense Here's the images.

Still not sure I get the issue, even with this picture.
What if you click on the [+]?
Or use the tabular report view?
