Pivot table won't sum value field in data model

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to create a pivot table using the data model.

When I drag a field into the values section, it will only count it.

If I try to change the summarize setting to sum, I get the error message: We can't summarize this field with Sum because it's not a supported calculation for text data types.

Your anticipated help is highly appreciated.

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
Sounds like the data type of the column in the source is set to Text.
