PIVOT Tables/Excel

Hi ppl im new and need some help! Im going for a new job where im required to use Advanced Excel - I use pivot tables somewhat sporadically and have never used VLookups but i know i'll need to know how to use these for my interview.

I know - im not trying to blag it but just wanted someone to explain in crash course terminology the easiest way to learn Lookups - what they are used for and how to use them...Can anyone help me? Ive tried random websites but im not getting very far!

Vlookup is to lookup data on another area(can be another sheet, file or within the same sheet) and return information from that area to your current sheet. You would have a common piece of data between the two areas. So if you have say an employee ID and you want to get their zip code from a table of data on another area.
