Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
Why do you need to put it INTO a pivot table, it looks like it came out of one.

To make a chart, select the data range and start the chart wizard. In step 1, choose a line chart. In step 2, select Series in Rows. In the rest of the steps, apply whatever formats and options you need.

the whole story

Hello,

I would like to have an interactive graph from this data, and I was told to create a pivot table with the table you see, this will make my graph more interactive.
(ie: select single store to show plots, whole districts, etc. I originally intended to use a drop down box created in the add MS excel 5.0 dialog in the same workbook, but I was told this would do the trick)

So I used the wizard and started creating my pivot table, with the intention of having an interactive chart/graph. The source table (what you see posted) is basically single columns from multiple weekly sales reports cut and pasted onto one sheet. (as per the dates on the chart) Originally I created a graph showing this data, but 100 store locations all plotted on the same xy axis made it a little hard to see, so I figured it was necessary to be able to select either by district or a single store.

Anyway, the part I actually got stuck on was with the wizard. Try to do this yourself with the chart I provided, and if you manage to get it, then it should work with the whole chart and therefore solve my problem (very great full). 

PIVOT TABLE AND PIVOT CHART WIZARD
Step 1 use current list or database/ pivot chart with pivot table report
Step 2 select cells to be included as data….
Step 3 of 3 shows an option “layout…”

It is step 3 that I get stuck on because upon selecting this I attempted to make my graph show
X axis = each week
Y axis = total $ cost.
The graph should show the plotted detail.

I can’t seem to get the wizard to layout my graph like the first one I did.

Help…

Hope this is not all to confusing.

Thank you

I found a solution to my problem... must have been the second cup of coffee tht did it.

rows = all stores
data source includes all the weeks

series are rows not columns.

Thank you
