HI

I want to play music while a form is open, and when someone clicks on a text box in the form for a sound effect to play like a bell chime or something, and when they click another button on the form another sound effect.

Is there a simple line of code that can do this?

THanks

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple

how can you tell that?

Go to File >Help >Under Product information, you will see if it is 32 or 64 bits

Or via code ... something along theses lines :

Code:
Function IsOffice64() As Boolean
    [URL=https://www.mrexcel.com/forum/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=If]#If[/URL]  Win64 Then
        IsOffice64 = True
    [URL=https://www.mrexcel.com/forum/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=End]#End[/URL]  If
End Function

Its 32 bit, thats a nice code, i don't understand how it worked but bravo.

so because its 32 bit i can't play music using cpearson page advice?

i thought there might have just been a line of code like

application.speech.speak range(a1).embedded mp3 or something

Not true. You should be able to use cpearson's code.

Can you post the code you are using ? Also, where are you placing the code ? In a Standard Module or a Class module ?

And do you have the sounds attached to embedded objects or are you calling them from disk ?

Hi

i placed this code from cpearsons page:
Code:
public declare function sndplaysound32 _
Lib "2winmm.dll" _
Alias "Sndplaysounda" ( _
Byval 1pszsoundname as String, _
byval uflags as Long)as long
into the thisworkbook area then i tried it in a module and tried both public and private sub

I was going to embed the wmv or mp3 file in excel spreadsheet then i need a code that will say:

when workbook opens play sound, and when button on form is clicked play sound etc.

You function declaration is wrong ...

Code:
[COLOR=#ff0000]public[/COLOR] declare function sndplaysound32 _Lib "[COLOR=#ff0000]2[/COLOR]winmm.dll" _
Alias "Sndplaysound[COLOR=#ff0000]a[/COLOR]" ( _
Byval [COLOR=#ff0000]1[/COLOR]pszsoundname as String, _
byval uflags as Long)as long

Should be :
Code:
Private Declare Function sndPlaySound32 _    Lib "winmm.dll" _
    Alias "sndPlaySoundA" ( _
        ByVal lpszSoundName As String, _
        ByVal uFlags As Long) As Long
