I am using the Excel 2007 book and I can not figure out how to complete Tutorial 7 Case Problem 4 Question 5. I am having trouble figuring out how to set up the formulas.

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
I am new to this site, What exactly do you mean. The question says to create a report on Overall Home Sales based on Sales Price, using figure 7-40 as a guide. But I can not figure out the formulas to use to get the Number sold total, the average sales price, Highest sales price, and Lowest sales price. If I am correct I need to put a formula in for each on.

we have no idea what book you're talking about, you will need to give more info if you want help.
There are hundreds of Excel books, so be more specific please...

Here's an attempt to help you help yourself:
The COUNT() formula allows you to count things, like number of sales.
The SUM() formula allows you to sum the values in a range of cells, like sales values.
The AVERAGE() formula allows you to average the values for a range of cells.
The MAX() formula allows you to find the highest value in a range of cells, like the highest sales price.
The MIN() formula allows you to find the lowest value in a range of cells, like the lowest sales price.

Here's an example spreadsheet, complete with example formulas:
Excel Workbook
ABCD
1500.00count:6
2200.00sum:2,500.00
3250.00average:416.67
41,000.00max:1,000.00
5100.00min:100.00
6450.00
Sheet1

I do not know what figure 7-40 looks like, but I'm guessing you can solve it with the information I gave you.

Never heard of that one before...

Okay, so now we know what book it is, you will still need to provide us with an exact and complete description of the question they ask and problem you have...

The question says insert a new worksheet and then rename the worksheet q5-8 Sales Summary. Create a report on Overall Home Sales based on Sales Price, using figure 7-40 as a guide. But I can not figure out the formulas to use to get the Number sold total, the average sales price, Highest sales price, and Lowest sales price from the home sales data worksheet to the Sales summary worksheet. If I am correct I need to put a formula in for each on.

With respect, it sounds like you need to step back a couple of tutorials and re-cover worksheet functions
Moonfish has given you some examples to meet your current requirements, but have a look at this site for a free download of most of the most frequently used worksheet functions.....with working examples.

Referring to an Excel Book, doesn't help the posters here, mainly because;
1. there are literally thousands of Excel books on the market
2. While most of them do similar tutorials, they most definitely do them differently
3. The posters here have nothing to do with Microsoft or Excel
(unless they have accreditations for same).
They are volunteers with a desire to help other posters with their problems,
so mentioning a book generally will not help us solve the problem.

Hope this guides you in the right direction, and keep posting if you have more questions / queries
