Cell AR8 has the formula =IF($A8>0,IF(AP8>0,"FAILED IN "&AP8&" MODULES","PASS"),"")

the above code works fine.

Now I want to add another condition The formula should first check the entry in cell D8
If it is blank then nothing to do, but if it has the comments "fees pending" or "drop out", then in the above cell the result should be the value in D8

Also like in the above formula which I am currently using the cell AR8 should be blank if A8 is blank

Excel Facts

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
Haven't tested but try

=IF(D8="","",IF(OR(D8="fees pending",D8="drop out"),D8,IF($A8>0,IF(AP8>0,"FAILED IN "&AP8&" MODULES","PASS"),"")))

If D8="fees pending",D8="drop out")

Highlight the range E8 to AR8, select conditional formatting and create a new rule and then pick 'use a formula to determine which cells to format'

In the formula box enter

=OR($D$8="fees pending",$D$8="drop out")

and then define the format you want
