I am wanting to use a database for recording data from file reviews that we conduct. The questions asked can have 3 answers Yes, No or Not Applicable. what i want to happen is for every No answer a certain point score is allocated to it (eg if question 2 is answered No then it is worth 5 points). can this be done and if so how??

Kindest Regards

Can Excel fill bagel flavors?
You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
Hi

Yes this can be done. You could either store the points values in the underlying tables as you go (this is not the preferred option, for data integrity reasons) or you can calculate the points for each review via a query as and when you need it.

Using a query should be the preferred option. Without knowing your table set-up it is difficult to advise exactly how you should do this but conceptually you want to count the 'No' results for each review and multiply that count by, in this case, 5.

If you need more help with designing a query, post a description of your table set-up and where you want to see these results.
