If an instance of Excel is already open when I double-click a file type associated with Excel, that file will be opened in the existing instance of excel. Is there a way to change this behavior such that a new instance of Excel will be opened whenever I double-click a file type associated with Excel? I am using Excel 2010.

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
Have a look over here.
This blog targets Excel versions up to 2007 but according to contributor "Roose" in a reply regarding an answer to this question the provided solution also works with Excel 2010.

That does work, but now it opens a separate window for my Personal.xlsb every time I open a new workbook. Is there any way to exclude Personal.xlsb from opening in a new window each time?

Ah, wouldn't have thought of that. Thanks for posting back.
