Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
The Excel function VLOOKUP() might be what you are looking for. It works by looking in the leftmost column in a specified range for a known value, then returning the value in a specified column, on the same row as the data is.

Two requierments:
1. The leftmost column of the range must be sorted in ascending order!
2. The leftmost column must be the reference column.

From the requierments, the reference column cannot be 1, 2, 3, 1, etc., since it must be sorted in ascending value. But, as long as you use only the three-row range, it chould be made to work, with a good, more complete sample of your data.
