Hello,

I know this is probably very simple but I am still getting to know Power BI, and was hoping to get some help.

I have a dataset with the following sample data

TypeDate
Cookie1/1/2021
Muffin1/1/2021
Cookie2/1/2021
Muffin2/1/2021
Cookie5/1/2021
Cookie5/1/2021

I have created a matrix visualization which tells me the number of purchases of each Type Month-To-Date, as per below. What I would like to add is a new measurement column (the column to the right) which tells me the average number of purchases per month throughout the entire data set:

TypeCount month to date (May)Average per month (total divided by number of months in data set, not including current month)
Cookie2.4 (2/5)
Muffin0.4 (2/5)

Much appreciated!
