Powerpivot import error from Informix amount field

I'm trying to load data into Powerpivot from an informix table and I get an error on a cost field.
Unable to convert a value to the data type requested for table 'c57d9100-c49b-485e-a20c-626b62f3d390' column 'case_cost'.
The operation has been cancelled.
The field in Informix is defined as It is defined as decimal 18 digits total with 3 decimal. If you look at a given cost it will look like 10.020 in the field left justified.
Any help woul dbe appreciated!

With Informix you can cast the column to a different data type e.g. select case_cost::float from c57d9100-c49b-485e-a20c-626b62f3d390
