I have an indata sheet, a pivot sheet and then a table sheet that should look in a specific way. Each month new data is entered and I want it summarized by the pivot table and then linked into the pre-defined table (ie showing all months of the year already from the beginning).

Example
Right now there is data for Jan-Mar and these could be linked from the pivot table to the presented table. However, when data for April is available the pivot table will change and I need to make a link to the presented table. Can overcome this? I want the pivot table to include all possible variables from day one so that I can link it to the right place in the presented table. Or any other solution?

Excel Facts

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
Any ideas? Or do I just have to do it by formulas, which is increadibly slow

You did not illustrate your inquiry.

Could you modify your Pivot Table to present the information?

Could you access the information with GetPivotData?

What version of Excel are you using?

Excel version, believe it is 2003

No the pivot table only include values that are present in the indata sheet. The table I should present should look exactly the same every time.

Table (presented)
Month data1 data2 data3 etc
Jan 12 10 11
Feb *blank*
Mars
April
May
...
Dec
this is what it looks after january data is done in the indata sheet.

However, a pivot table look like this
Month
Jan 12 10 11

and nothing more.

When I put in the february values then the pivot table changes completely and I have to link 20 values from the pivot table to the actual table I am presenting.

I want the pivot table to look like this from the first data entry
Month data1 data2 etc
Jan 12 10 11
Feb 0 (or blank)
...
Dec

Right now I am using sumif/countif to get values from indata to the presented table but this makes the spreadsheet very very slow. I want to use pivot tables since my hope is that this will make it much faster to calculate.

Not familiar with function getpivotdata.

Code:
1. Did you find good info on GetPivotData in help or with search?
It may be easier at least initially to use it with point and click.

2. Could you initialize future months by entering data with a
very small amount such as
05/03/09	Data3	0.0000000001

Pivot Table

Sum of Amt Categories

Years	Date	Data1	Data2	Data3	Grand Total

2009	Jan	12.00	10.00	11.00	33.00
	Feb	0.00	0.00	0.00	0.00
	Mar	0.00	0.00	0.00	0.00

Grand Total	12.00	10.00	11.00	33.00
