Pre-Filter Data Before Pivot Table Population?

Is there a way to tell excel to ignore certain data before populating a pivot table? I have my data formatted as a table, but there are some data that isn't necessary to have in the pivot table (i.e. I don't need to account for blanks, etc.) Can one incorporate an "if statement" to help pre-filter what you want in the pivot table?

Or, perhaps format the slicer to exclude the series data I do not need to represent.
