How do I simply prevent a user from accidentally inputing to or changing a formula cell as the sheet is being filled out?

THanks once again

Cliff

Excel Facts

Select a hidden cell
Somehide hide payroll data in column G? Press F5. Type G1. Enter. Look in formula bar while you arrow down through G.
From the TOOLS menu there is an option PROTECTION > PROTECT SHEET... Explore that. You lock/unlock cells you want to allow to be edited by using the last tab in the FORMAT CELLS dialog box.

Thanks Greg,

I finally figured out that you choose which cells to lock in the 'fomat cells', THEN go to the tools to 'Lock the sheet'.

thanks again

 Sorry, I shoulda mentioned that. It's one of those things that when get it wrong for the first time, you stop and think about it and then smack yourself in the head and mutter "duh" once you get it... i.e. what would be the good of "protection" if you were to be able to lock/unlock cells at will with protection turned on?
