I have a couple of cells with conditional formatting set to change the font color to red if the cell value is less than another cell. I am using the conditional formatting option from the format toolbar. Slect cell, click conditional formatting and enter the following:
Condition 1 : less than : ="c19"

Seems simple but it's not working. Sometimes the cells value is red when it is greater than cell c19. I've tried unlocking these cells just to see if that made a diference but to no avail. Also, these cells are stock quotes updated with a click of the Update Quotes add-in. Any ideas? Can't seem to find another instance of this. thanks

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Is calculation set to manual in your workbook? Have a look at tools...options...calculation.

Use Formula Is
Code:
=(A2<$C$19)*A2
where C2 is the cell to be Conditionally Formatted!

Hi Dom, could be a problem with the dollars signs in the reference. Make sure it is relative or absolute as required.

Select A2, or your 1st cell of interset. Choose Format>Conditional Formatting. Change "Cell Value Is" to "Formula Is" via the dropdown. Enter the formula and select format. Use the Format Paintbrush to copy the format to other cells. Change A2 to your star cell
