Problem with a chart

I have been running a survey at work that had 4 possible answers or was left blank for some statements.

I have got the results in a bar chart that shows the percentages of the 4 possible answers for each of the statements. What I want to do is show on the right hand side of the chart the total number of responses received for that particular statement.

I have tried using the secondary axis function but this does not work.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

How to calculate loan payments in Excel?
Use the PMT function: =PMT(5%/12,60,-25000) is for a $25,000 loan, 5% annual interest, 60 month loan.
I think this idea is what may help you.

With your data you nedd three sets of information.
1. Reference to the questions
2. Total replies for each question
3. Percentage of total for each question

Select these three sets of data.

Select chart wizard.

Select Custom types.

Select 'Tubes' (on my system last type)

You can add more information in the usual way.

When you have produced the chart you can move the labels and colour to suit.

Hope this solves the problem

Thank you for the reply.

I have had a look at your suggestion. and on trying it it replicates the bar chart I am using.

Whilst this produces part of the answer I need, I cannot work out how to put the total number of responses alongside each statement. (Preferably to the right of the Chart).

Unfortunately I can not post a sample as my network admin security systems prevent it.

I have done a similar chart where it showed the number of responses in the first part of the bar and the percentage at the end.

Both pieces of data were written verticallyand the alignment had to be modified.

The position of the data can be moved to suit.

Alternatively
Select cells to graph as before
(This should give 3 rows selected)

Select chart wizard - Bar Chart
Select next and add, under titles, Category X axis 'Question'
Category Y axis 'Responses'
Then Finish
You should have a graph with two sets of data.

Right Click on one of the percentage bars
Select Format Data Series
Select tab for Axis
Select secondary axis
Click OK

Right Click on Chart Area and select Chart Options
Value Y axis enter Number Responses
Second Value Y axis enter Percentages

This should give the type of chart you are looking for!!
