Hi

I’m having problems with auto complete

Some words will auto complete, some won’t

I did a FIND and Select to make sure that the word I was trying to auto complete was exactly the same…no extra spaces or characters

I went to the last cell that had the word that won’t work, I dropped one cell and started typing the same word. It wouldn’t auto fill.

I started at the beginning of the column. I found the first time I used that word

In the cell under the word, I typed it and it worked.

I continued down till I found one that would not work.

I copied and pasted the previous one that worked, into the cell that didn’t. I dropped down one cell and it didn’t work.

I also moved to the right one cell where auto fill wouldn’t work and started typing what was above and auto fill worked

I went thru the cells in between the one that worked and the one that didn’t to see if there was any combinations of the word that would confuse auto fill. There wasn’t.

I opened a new workbook and tried the same word that didn’t work and it did

I copied and pasted in the new workbook a few cells above the one that worked and a few cells below the one that wouldn’t. Then I tried the auto fill on the first cell below and it worked.

I copied the whole sheet to a new workbook and had the same problem

I have a couple of other workbooks that I am having the same problem

What am I missing?

Hi Mike,

I am new at this myself. But is it possible that the cell format is different in the cells that you are having problems with?
Possible that cell is formatted for number or general and not text. Just an Idea to check.

Good Luck,
