I have a *simple* database listing people and a large number of data in respect of each person.

I use auto filter in order to get the section of the list I need.
Then I use EDIT /PASTE SPECIAL to paste just that list into a new sheet.

I constantly get different rows and not the section I selected.

Can anyone give me a hint of what I am doing wrong?

Thanks!

What Paste Special option are you using?

If you select and copy those rows by clicking on the row, the shift-clicking at the bottom row, when you paste, it will include all the rows in-between.

Maybe what you need to use is the Advanced filter, which allows you to copy and paste to a new location directly.

Paste - ALL
Operation - NONE
SKIP BLANKS
PASTE LINKS

after all this I get a slit that has nothing in common with the list I copied after FILTER

Sorry, didn't realize that this was part of the original request.

I'm puzzled... How could you be using Skip Blanks and Paste Links? They're mutually exclusive. Also, I'm unable to reproduce your problem when I filter the following list for "Apples" or "Grapes" and Paste Special... Links directly below the original list...
Book1
ABCDEFG
1Fruit
2Apples
3Oranges
4Bananas
5Grapes
6Lemons
7Apples
8Oranges
9Bananas
10Grapes
11Lemons
12Apples
13Oranges
14
15
16Apples
17Grapes
18Apples
19Grapes
20Apples
21
