Problems opening spreadsheets via My Docs

I am running Excel 2007 on Windows XP and since a hard drive re-format I find that I can open spreadsheets within Excel no problem at all but when trying to open them via My Docs the system hangs for ages and either the spreadsheet opens after about a minute or mostly I have to close the process in task manager and start again.

Strnagely I find that if I then go back into My Docs the spreadsheets often open almost straight away at this second attempt. The problem seems to be on first entry after the computer has been switched on each day.

Any ideas why and how to solve this?

Thanks

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
Hi, and welcome to Mr Excel!

I had a similar problem on our network, soon after we installed 2007. I found that if I already had the Excel application open in the background, any Excel file would open instantly, but if I tried opening the file from the icon (without the application already open), it took ages.
Strangely enough, I also found that if I minimised the application whist waiting for it to open the file, it then opened almost straight away!!

I did some research, and all roads pointed towards add-inns. I had almost all my add-inns disabled, so assumed that it couldn't be the issue, but as a last-ditch effort, I re-enabled all of them and found that it worked perfectly, and has ever since!!

Unfortunately, I'm not sure which one did the trick, but I suggest that you try the same - even try a new one, if necessary - just to kick Excel into action again.
Office button, Excel options, AddIns (down the LH side), Manage Excel addins (Go) then try a few.

Let us know if it helps, because I think quite a few people have this issue.
