Hi!

I have a spreadsheet with two tabs. The first tab, “AM” has several bits of information and the names of different persons under the D column. In the second tab, “Stats” I’ll like to tally up the information based on the names in the D column of the first tab.

In other words, if Jane Smith has four line items of $1000 each, totaling $4000 – I want one line item in the second tab, totaling her sum as $4000.

Any ideas?

Hi petiteshiraz

SUMIF will work but you'll have to set up the list manually and if the names change you'll have to rearrange the list.

Take a look at Pivot Tables. A Pivot Table will build the list automatically and besides the sum of sales by person, you can specify average value of a sale, highest sale, total by department, total sales overall, etc.

Hope this helps
