I have an old device (pre windows 95) that is plugged into the com1 serial port.

The manual for this device has a QBasic program that has the following lines of information to read the com1 port.

110 OPEN "com1:2400,n,8,1,cs1000" FOR INPUT AS #1
120 IF LOC(1) <> 59 THEN 120
130 A$=INPUTS$(59,1)
140 PRINT A$
150 GOTO 120

I would like to be able to read this in thru visual basic but am unsure of the syntax that I need to do so.

Can anyone direct me on how to write a similar program in Visual Basic

Thanks

Excel Facts

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
Further to problems with readng com1

I guess the bottom line question is - what is the equivalent to the open statment, and the input statement.

Thanks
