Hi, I'm a new member with a challenge to create a chart showing performance over time (2 years of data with data points for each month) and projected performance in the future months, based on 3, 6 and 12 data points. I've seen such charts used before, where the known data is in a solid line and the projected data continuing the line but in broken form. I'm hoping there's a quick way of producing this from Excel - any ideas appreciated!

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
HI

Do you mean that you want to add a trend line to the real data in the chart, with the projection going out x number of months??? If so, then chart the actual data, select it, right click, add trendline, options, select a number of periods forward, then ok. Then format the trend line to the relevant dotted style you want.
