Hi,

I have created a data validation cell as a list but want to protect the cell from users inadvertently keying data into it and only being able to select a list member. Can someone please advise how I would achieve this?

Many thanks in advance,

Ian

Spell Check in Excel
Press F7 to start spell check in Excel. Be careful, by default, Excel does not check Capitalized Werds (whoops)
Ive sorted this out now using lock cells and protecting worksheet ... thanks all the same

Solution
You actually don't need to protect the sheet. In the Data Validation window, click the Error Alert tab and put a check mark to the left of "Show error alert ....."
