I have a worksheet which needs to protected but is there a way to protect it and still let people hide & unhide colums / rows ?

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
Hi Peter

Make sure when you click Protect Sheet, you check option to allow formatting columns and rows.

Best regards

Hi Peter1973,

I'm working with Excel 2003, but this functionality should be in Excel 2002 as well. If you can allow the user to select locked and unlocked cells, and to format rows and columns, then the user may hide/unhide columns/rows.

I know that this isn't much help, but it is an idea. Perhaps you don't want the user to select any cells or format rows and columns. While the worksheet is protected, they at least cannot edit the data.

What version of Excel are you using?

If it's pre-2002 I don't think that functionality is available.
