I am looking for a method of opening multiple tesxt files, copying some specific data, entering it into a summary file, closing the original text file and saving the summary sheet and closing.
I can do this with a macro on 1 file at a time. I have minimal VBA for Excel background and know enough to be dangerous.
I am not sure if I need to use a form or a dialog box.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Hi Jim

When you say multiple text files, are these Excel files or in .txt format

If Excel, what are the cells / ranges of the data you want to copy into summary?

Also are all of the text files in the same folder?

Does this folder include only the text files you want to copy from, or are other files in that same folder?

What do you want the end result to look like, ie in what column or row do you want the copied data to go into on your summary sheet?

Hi Mark,
Yes, they are all .txt files.
I pull one file in at a time and extract the data and place the data in two columns. The headers are Freq & (Name)Data.
The data is not always in the same place. I was thinking about a way to search for a specific column and row intersection. That is typically how it is set up. Freq column and then data columns.
All the text files are in the same folder. There maybe an Excel summary file in that folder.
I have not come up with a final format for the end result.
I am still sitting with the person who does this one step at a time.
My plan is to record a macro of what he does and then edit the macro. I am hoping to get help with the method of choosing the file or files. Once I know how to do that, I can then adjust the macro from there.

Thanks
Jim
