Query table refresh is VERY slow

I have a query table that is the dump of a qiery I have stored in an Access file. The query in Access hits another .mdb and a SQL database. If I run the query in Access, it takes a few seconds to execute. But when I do it in Excel, it takes tens of minutes to execute. Is there something I can check and/or modify to speed this up at all?
