Question Regarding the "=Today()" Formula

Hi People

Cell A39 contains the '=TODAY()' formula, is it possible to enter dates manually into this Cell without loosing the Formula.

As sometimes i need to backtrack the date..by a few days

Use the same formula to backtrack the date..by a few days, like:

=TODAY()-3 etc.

You could also refer to another cell containing the number of days back, eg =TODAY()-$Z$100. Then simply amend Z100 as necessary or leave it blank to keep to TODAY(). This method avoids your having to edit the cell containing the formula.

inarbeth i have tried your suggestion by typing the following formula

CELL A39 Has the formula =TODAY()-$B$39
Instead of using Z100 i am using B39 but it dont work.

Am i doing something wrong or is my formula wrong?

Its ok now using the cell below

A39 =TODAY()-$A$40

Thanks for the tip, but is there a way to hide the number i enter into CELL A40 when i print my document?

You can whiten the font of the cell using conditional formatting. The formula to use is:

=LEN($A$40)

I tried this but it did not work.
I did the following

FORMAT/CONDITIONAL FORMATTING/CONDITION 1 (FORMULA IS) Typed the formula and then hit OK.

On printing the value showed up?

after you type the formula, you then have to click on the 'format' button, select the 'font' tab, and change select a font color of white before hitting the 'ok' button. do this and your conditional format should work as expected.

You can also use Format, Custom Format ;;; to hide the cell's contents
