Something weird happened. Cells would not allow entries.
When you moved the mouse it would highlight a range of cells
what caused that?

I can't say about the cell entry, but for #2 it sounds like you have Extend on. Try hitting F8 to toggle it off.

Or check for stuck keys: your left and right shift keys, as well as the wheel on your mouse (yes, it will also press down as well as roll up and down). Give them a workout by pressing them, then try Excel again. HTH - Larry.
