Questions on Vlookpup and MAX Formula

Hello,

I need your help on. VLookup and MAX formula. Example:
Column A Column B
A1: 0 B1: 2
A2: 1 B2: 2
A3: 2 B3: 3
A4: 3 B4: 5
A5: 4 B5: 4
A6: 5 B6: 0
A7: 6 B7: 0
A8: 7 B8: 3
A9: 8 B9: 2

Now I want the formula to choose the 4 maximum number on column B for example above the max number in column b is 5 which is in b4, and then it should give me the number in A4 which is the number 3. For the second number it should choose the lowest maximum number for example above it would choose b5 which is 4 and then it should give me the number on A5 which is 4 and the same with the 3rd number which would give me B3 which is the lowest number on A3 which is the number 2. And the the 4th number would be on b8 which is the numbe 7 on A8. Thanks a lot in advance.

If you end up with what you say you are asking for, you will produce a table that will be the equivalent of simply sorting range A1:B9 by descending order of column B. Why not just do that?

If it's a Top N list what you are after using formulas, see below. Otherwise, sorting or a pivot table might give you need. That said:
