I don't know if this is possible to do inside excel or not... I know excel is a powerful program so I thought I might ask... I need to know if I data all in one table mixed together through the month, is there a way to generate a table from the original table to show all the specific values of the specific criteria I'm looking for... here is a small illustration...

In other words I want it to return all the data of REP1 during the month of July into a new table...

Not even sure of how to word this or what to lookup on this, so I do apologize if it has been posted before...

I have a pretty good size amount of data, I need to do this on, so if copy and paste is my best bet, I need to get started... :)

Have you tried Pivot Tables? They work well with large data. One way would be to add a new Column - 'MONTH' and fill the rows with month of corresponding date (just drag down function =month(date)). Now create a pivot with this entire data and select month to group data.

Let me know if this works.

Need it to group by the rep though...

in other words, I need to return a commission statement for REP1 in July

Right now it has all the data in one sheet with different months and different reps mixed together... I need to be able to select the rep from a drop down as well as the month and then excel spit out a report for that reps comp during the month selected...

Check out AutoFilter as well. That's another good way to narrow the field.

Why isn't Pivot Table working for you? Do you have a sample file where it fails for you?

Using Pivot, you will be able to select Rep and Month and literally a whole bunch of other criterion that you want, from a dropdown. Exactly what you are looking for!

Trying to do the pivot table but its pretty much fail after fail.. lol
